Congratulations to Tim Johnson for winning the 2013 Paddington Art Prize.
Based in Sydney, Johnson is responsible for some of the most recognizable imagery to have emerged from the Australian contemporary art scene. His Paddington Art Prize-winning work “Faraway” features the religious iconography and the Aboriginal art-inspired ethereal, textural backgrounds that are the signature characteristics of his most recent body of work.

UNSW COFA Prize – Will French
Paddington Art Prize is a $20,000 Acquisitive prize for a painting inspired by the Australian landscape. In addition the UNSW College of Fine Arts will offer a selected artist the opportunity to create a limited edition print, plus Parker’s Sydney Fine Art Supplies will present a voucher to the value of $500 to the Honourable Mention recipient and Lucio’s will present a voucher to the value of $250 for the Highly Commended recipient. Marlene Antico, Founder of Paddington Art Prize, and Simon Chan are Co-Principal Sponsors of the art prize.
The judges for 2013 were Professor Ross Harley, dean of College of Fine Arts UNSW, artist Del Kathryn Barton, and artist John Firth Smith.
