Lloyd’s oil paintings are dramatic renderings of captivating moments. The immediate simplicity and atmosphere of the paintings have a spellbinding effect; the landscape is transfigured into scenes that resonate with untold narratives.
Light is the underlying subject of Lloyd’s paintings. Shadows set the stage for the revelatory nature of light. Indeed, the paintings seem to have an incandescence of their own. Lloyd pays exquisite attention to the detailed rendering of forms, be it a tree, a mountain, or a cloud. He depicts an ephemeral reality that we often experience but rarely take the time to appreciate.
