New sculptures and drawings continue Veronica Cay’s interest in feeling and how wrapping, stitching and collaging onto clay is a material parallel to concepts of memory, dialogue and understanding – or, what it is to be human. Cay’s forms spotlight how people are habitually “seeking connections, testing resilience and acknowledging frailties.” She relishes life drawing for the chance to represent someone in a way that can’t be expressed in words.
