Gippsland Art Gallery presents 14 new blue and white porcelain sculptures by Thai–born artist Vipoo Srivilasa, together with an earlier work acquired by the Gallery in 2015. Developed with Craft Victoria, ‘Everyday Shrines’ playfully explores similarities across East and West; between the cultures of Srivilasa’s birth place, Thailand, and his adoptive home of Australia. The works fuse historical figurative and decorative techniques with contemporary notions of globalisation, national pride and migration, launching a humorous commentary on everyday society.
