Victoria-based abstract painter Fran O’Neill is known for large-scale, gestural canvases with dynamic fields of luminous colour, having lived and exhibited both in Australia and North America.
Drawing on fragments of memory that unfold as emotional landscapes rather than literal depictions, the artist’s gestures and use of colour create shifting fields of depth and light, pulling the viewer into a space where movement and sensation take precedence over representation – inviting a visceral response that is at once intimate and expansive.
