Art Almanac acknowledges and pays respect to the many Aboriginal nations across this land, traditional custodians, Elders past and present; in particular the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the traditional owners of the land on which we work.

July 2026
The July issue of Art Almanac includes legacy works we had to wait for. A relief has been to finally view the works of Ngura Puḻka – Epic Country at the National Gallery of Australia, following considerable controversy and a three-year delay. Sasha Grishin writes the review; balancing admiration for the dazzling scale of the works with an important commentary on its delay.
Another legacy work with obstacles thrown up in its path is Khaled Sabsabi’s conference of one’s self, 2026, at the Australia Pavilion in the 61st La Biennale di Venezia. We take a brief look, while Bronwyn Watson deep dives into Archie Moore’s monumental triumph from the previous Venice Biennale. Works with a patient regard for time and power in belief, even as our world changes, are on show in New Religion at Ngununggula. Victoria Hynes writes our preview. We hope you find much to inspire you this month.
Art Almanac | Australia’s longest-running guide to “what’s on” in the arts: exhibitions, events, workshops, open studios, artist opportunities, art awards and services. July 2026 features $625k+ in art prizes/funding, 610+ galleries, and 390+ artists, both emerging and established.
