From the northwest to the vast desert regions of the state’s interior, Across the way brings together artists from remote Aboriginal-owned art centres throughout the Pilbara, Kimberley, Western Desert, and Ngaanyatjarra Lands.
United by a deep connection to Country and distinguished by diverse artistic traditions, colour, form, and pattern reveal the diversity and richness of contemporary First Nations art practice, as the ways Country is experienced, known, and represented is celebrated: cultural knowledge, lived experience, and enduring connections to land.
