‘My aim is to create beauty in the objects I produce,’ says Ted Secombe, one of Australia’s leading ceramic artists. Known for his profound use of clay, expertise in crystalline glazes, mastery of cobalt blue and deep crimson finishes, his pieces are meticulously crafted and elegant in form. Secombe’s recent practice has shifted from the self-proclaimed ‘perfectionism’ of his earlier works to a looser approach with glazes, producing less predictable surfaces, ‘in sync with the natural world.’
