Thomas Griffiths Wainewright: Paradise Lost

‘Paradise Lost’ presents 44 artworks including portraits, narrative-based sketches, watercolours and recent discoveries by notorious artist and convict Thomas Griffiths Wainewright (1794-1847), who was convicted of forgery and rumoured to have poisoned his relatives for money. Works on loan from collections in Australia and New Zealand by two of Wainewright’s artistic inspirations, Henry Fuseli and William Blake are on view alongside Old Master prints by Titian, Raphael, Correggio, Rubens and Michelangelo to evoke the magnificence of Wainewright’s personal art collection.
