After ten years since their first exhibition in their Richmond location, and twenty-five years in the industry, Anita Traverso Gallery have ended their lease and residency at 7 Albert Street.
To mark the occasion the gallery will hold a final Salon show in a two-week closing exhibition-plus-stockroom- sale before shutting their doors on Thursday 19 November.
Works from the long-term ‘stable’ of artists and those who took part in the gallery’s own unique design exhibition-model AT_SALON2, will be available for a final opportunity to acquire coveted pieces at reduced cost. Over the years the gallery stockroom has provided inspiration to many loyal clients and has been a veritable treasure-trove to new visitors. Its contents have held award-winning artists, added a new dynamic to homes and offices around Australia and overseas, and contributed to notable public, corporate and private art collections.
The decision for the gallery to close its doors and continue as an online platform for the time being has been reached after much ruminating regarding relocation and its timing. This change provides a perfect circuit breaker before embarking on the next ‘phase’ of Anita Traverso’s entrepreneurial visual-arts career history. This sabbatical, of an estimated 4-6 months, will also be a timely opportunity to recharge, and prioritise the director’s health at this time.
The gallery’s website will remain as a solid online presence and continue to service collectors for sales and commissions. Currently the website showcases 28 of its long-term artists with more in its AT_SALON2 exhibition pages. Clients will be kept up to date with new developments both via the website and the email newsletter, which will cover news on artists’ achievements and the availability of new works.
