Paul Maher: Anzac Walk

Newcastle-based artist Paul Maher displays a series of recent landscape paintings for his 12th solo exhibition, ‘Anzac Walk’. Inspired by the view from his bedroom window; the ridgeline that links Newcastle’s coastal suburbs to the city and the harbour, Maher’s paintings depict the continuous changes to Newcastle’s urban landscapes combining the old with the new in a palette of rich earthy colours and tones.

This distinctive skyline has been recently altered to bear the Anzac Walk balanced precariously along the coastline on Anzac Memorial Bridge which opened in 2015 to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the ANZAC landing in Gallipoli in 1915.
