Fragile forms are suspended in the space of the canvas, print or screen, poised between and reliant upon opposed states in an incidental play of shadows and depth on a surface. Arryn Snowball’s practice draws upon abstraction and representations of light, movement and text. Enveloped by the artist’s signature monochrome works, the 150 pages of this monograph cover Snowball’s major series of paintings and photographs from 2003 to 2017, illustrated with over 80 images of artworks, exhibition installations and the artist’s studio in Berlin.
Essays by Rosemary Hawker and Megan Williams analyse major themes in Snowball’s oeuvre, while excerpts of interviews from 2006 to 2018 discuss the artist’s approach in creating his work as well as his collaborations.
