Art of the Screenprint

Hamilton Art Gallery presents the exhibition ‘Art of the Screenprint’ drawn entirely from the Gallery’s permanent collection. Many artists have used screenprinting over a long period to create vibrant, expressive prints.

Resulting in large areas of flat colour the technique nonetheless exploits coloured inks like no other technique. Its clearly read images have resulted in its use industrially, but this exhibition demonstrates that its use in the hands of artists enables its true worth to shine. The practice of screenprinting requires patience and careful examination and the works in this exhibition demonstrate the unique skills applied by each artist.
