Big Fag Press do the 4-tonne dance!

The Big Fag Press is an artist-run printing collective located in Sydney comprising of socially active artists and cultural practitioners. Together they own a four tonne offset proof press.

Producing large-scale limited-edition prints with graphic adventurers, they also host printmakers-in-residence and take on budding cultural producers in their internship program. In addition, they embark on exchanges with local communities, as the ‘Big Fag’ is not just a heavy bit of machinery that prints stuff but a platform upon where they support artists, build communities and celebrate neighbourhood stories.

‘The Big Fag Dance!’ – The Big Fag Press has been offered a new space by the City of Sydney as part of its Accommodation Grant Scheme located in one of the historic viaducts in Glebe’s Jubilee Park.

“Opening onto the picturesque foreshore park at the end of Glebe Point Road, the heritage-listed viaducts measure 85 square metres each.”

“Our accommodation grants program puts empty spaces across the City to good use, helping organisations provide important cultural, social and educational services for the community.”

“We’re delighted by how popular the program has been so far, and look forward to seeing new projects come to life in the Jubilee Park viaducts and the other unusual spaces on offer,” says Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

Close to Glebe’s relaxed village atmosphere, they are one of five new City properties seeking creative residents to move in and make them usable spaces for the community.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the workspaces were in locations that would be perfect for creative people. Indeed, this incredible location will see The Big Fag Press thrive and continue to develop their work in print and a host of other diverse projects.
