Cameron Hayes: Taking the wood from the only hospital to build a new casino

Cameron Hayes dissects the cultural and social behaviours that contribute to Australian identity, for better or worse, in this new body of allegorical paintings curated by Marielle Soni. His compositions reflect contemporary life and a sense of dystopia. As the gallery shares, ‘It is very difficult indeed to be a truth-teller whilst looking in the mirror. But there is no preaching in Hayes’ works – there is awe, wonder and delightful absurdity.’ Artist talk: 2 September, 2pm.
