‘Ritual Intimacy’ is the first major survey exhibition of artist Christian Thompson’s 15-year multi-disciplinary practice that includes photography, video, sculpture, performance and sound works exploring themes of identity, gender, sexuality, race and colonial history.
Embracing Indigenous language as an expression of cultural survival Thompson presents a new multi-channel installation of wall-to-wall imagery and sound that incorporates the artist’s own Bidjara language. Berceuse (2017) was developed especially for this exhibition and draws on the artist’s previously explored musical ideas.
