Corinna Howell: The grass is greener where you water it

Corinna Howell found that she only learned to appreciate the city, its people and the landscape after she’d left it. The grass is greener where you water it comprises paintings and drawings evoking feelings of nostalgia for a childhood nourished on Tasmania’s north coast, specifically Devonport.

Works portray scenes from faraway birthdays, beach days, evenings in the backyard, familiar parks and show days, to name a few. Stripped of the figures that once inhabited them, they bear the question of who they were, and where they went.
