Melbourne-based artist Julie Davidson continues her exploration of still life painting in Symphony of Light, bringing domestic forms together in compositions of quiet intensity.
Inviting a slower, more attentive mode of looking and guided by a sensitivity to colour, form, and light, Davidson’s paintings lift modest objects beyond their everyday function to offer them as subjects of contemplation. Not simply a record of things seen, on show in the intimate still life works is an insistence on the extraordinary presence of the seemingly mundane.
