Deb Mansfield: Softening (or break the legs of what I want to happen)

Sydney-based artist, Deb Mansfield’s art practice primarily focuses on ideas evoked by littoral spaces (which are the places where land meets sea). This slippage between forms has become the central theme of Mansfield’s art practice, and allows her to investigate other oscillating relationships.

This exhibition responds to the ritual of imagining remote coastlines while living in a busy metropolis. Mansfield has used photographs taken while walking through the Tamar Wetlands and Cataract Gorge during an artist’s residency in Launceston in 2009 to create photo-tapestries.
