‘Blak Superheroes’, by proud Yuwi, Torres Strait Islander and Australian-born South Sea Island man, Dylan Mooney, explores what it is like to be an Indigenous person in modern Australia. Mooney depicts First Nations characters in a dynamic comic-book style using drawing, printmaking and street art. These champions reflect the LGBTQIA+ community while always referencing the strength and continuation of culture.
“These works reflect the resilience, innovation and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to not only survive, but to thrive in so-called Australia,” says Mooney.
