John Scurry

John Scurry is a Melbourne artist with a creative practice spanning seven decades. Showing at Alexandra Sasse Gallery for the first time, Scurry presents a major series of still life and anterior paintings. His interior compositions, exquisitely rendered in a cool palette of soft powdery blues, shades of taupe and grey, and occasional sparks of yellow, illuminate everyday objects; fabrics, sunglasses, artist brushes, a pair of drumsticks and various other belongings, in a way that transforms the mundane into something more interesting or beautiful.
