Eveline Kotai: Invisible Threads

Eveline Kotai: Invisible Threads
Art Collective WA

Featuring essays by Julie Ewington, Nyanda Smith and Helen Thurloe and 170 colour plates ‘Invisible Threads’ is the final publication in a series of three produced by Art Collective WA on contemporary West Australian artists and is the first monograph to be published on Eveline Kotai. It surveys Kotai’s 40-year career, traversing painting, drawing, print and stitched collage. Kotai’s compositions bring focus to new illusory dimensions where light, pattern, texture and line merge illuminated in earthy tones, pastel combinations and fusions of reds, blues, greens and gold – reflections of the landscape, place, memory and observation.

Kotai’s work is on view at the Art Gallery of Western Australia from 17 August to January 2020 in the ‘WA Now: Artist in focus’ exhibition.
