Mirka Mora: A Life Making Art
Thames and Hudson
With this publication author Sabine Cotte shares the creative processes of artist Mirka Mora (1928-2018), a Melbourne icon who over the course of her career produced hundreds of artworks including textiles, dolls, paintings, drawings and large-scale public murals in fresco and mosaic. Having spent many hours with Mora in her studio surrounded by her artworks, easels, paints brushes and other artistic mediums, and with access to the artist’s diaries, photos, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia, Cotte gained a new understanding for the materials Mora chose to explore.
‘A Life Making Art’ is an important archive of 60 years of artmaking by a remarkable woman and artist who carried an insatiable appetite for art and life and a resolute dedication to her work.
