In seductive, sinuous compositions, Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) developed a new language that defined the look of late nineteenth-century Paris and embodied the very spirit of art nouveau.
This exhibition features 200-plus works from Mucha’s five-decade career, including posters, illustrations, jewellery, interior decoration, and photographs, alongside an immersive digital experience of his Slav Epic series, 1912–1926. From decorative panels capturing the moods of the seasons to advertising posters for French actor Sarah Bernhardt, each piece reflects Mucha’s mastery of form and capacity to communicate the essence of a new age.
