The Salon des Refusés exhibition from Sydney’s S.H. Ervin Gallery returns to Adelaide and exclusively to David Roche Gallery. Known as the popular “alternative” to the annual Archibald and Wynne prizes at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Salon des Refusés features work not selected for the official exhibition but rather those recognised for their quality, diversity, humour, and experimentation, their different approaches to portraiture, and responses to the landscape.
In 2024, sixty works were selected, with thirty-eight from the Archibald Prize and twenty-two from the Wynne Prize.
