DATA MINDS surveys the practices of five artists – Roy Ananda, Girl On Road, HIBALL, Jon Rafman and Brie Trenerry – working across analogue, contemporary and AI-assisted media. Encompassing photography, moving image, sculpture, installation, and internet-based media, each approaches AI as both medium and as a tool to be used, exploited or questioned.
Central to this exhibition is the exploration of how artists and audiences can grapple with the rapidly developing field of generative AI, and the pervasive influence of the internet on modern culture. Rooted in a material setting, audiences are encouraged to align the “digital” as part of the “real.”
DATA MINDS is curated by Wednesday Sutherland, assisted by Alexandra Kirwood.
