Textile artist Lottie Emma is known for her use of intricate embroidery and hand-dyed found and repurposed fabrics, her more recent work embracing experimentation, fast-paced processes, loose expressive forms, aerosol and soft sculpture.
Through her work, Emma explores how contemporary textiles can tell stories, share personal experiences and be a tool for catharsis; this exhibition delving into vulnerability and strength as a mother to a special needs child. Disempowerment, resilience and hope are key themes, with fragility, tenacity and resilience being spoken through her materials, iconography and processes.
