Curated by Dunja Rmandic, this exhibition showcases a selection of textiles and dresses acquired from the Moon family in 1980. It marks the completion of the Gallery’s Permanent Collection relocation into its purpose-built facility.
Originally trade merchants from Scotland, the Moon family lived in Devonport from the 1880s until the 1970s. The dresses on display come from Scotland and Australia and attest to the fine art of dressing-up throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The oldest dress dates from 1840–1860, and the most recent around the 1940s.
