Fiona Abicare works with sculpture, photography and interiors, with an interest in transforming the traditional distinctions between the spectrum of art forms, and how the audience might encounter their placement in space.
‘Americano’ explores sculpture and its image in relation to film production and interior design practice of the ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’, the Hollywood Studio System (1927-1949), that pioneered sophisticated white interiors and the ‘constructed’ set. Abicare explores how sculpture was formulated within this context and the methods of specialist trade and crafts people, which met the needs of industry.
