Part of this year’s OzAsia Festival program, Adelaide Central School of Art presents ‘roundabout’, an exhibition showcasing the work of Philippine multi-disciplinary artists Riel Hilario, Wawi Navarroza and Mark Valenzuela.
The exhibition examines the emotional, psychological and environmental connection to a particular place through history, religion and iconography. Using ceramic, sculpture, photography, video and sound these artists reconfigure traditional ‘santo-making’ statues, remap psycho-geographical frameworks and repurpose body parts to demonstrate current socio-cultural concerns such as politics, economy and identity.
