In 2023, the Open Award is acquisitive to the Campbelltown City Council Art Collection and is valued at $50,000. Other categories include Contemporary, Traditional, the Macarthur Award, Aboriginal Art Award and the Macability Award.

Up to two artworks can be entered across the different categories, with one entry allowed per category. Exhibition finalists are selected by a panel and judged by three industry professionals who will collectively choose the winners for each category and award. All Primary and Secondary students may enter one artwork and will be automatic finalists for exhibition.

In the past, the Open Award has been awarded to some of Australia’s most respected contemporary artists, including Elisabeth Cummings, Khaled Sabsabi, Justene Williams, David Bromley, Marion Borgelt, Raquel Ormella, Philip Wolfhagen, Tina Havelock Stevens, Kuba Dorabialski, Robert Fielding, and, most recently, Michael Cook.

The Fisher’s Ghost Art Award coincides with Campbelltown’s annual  Festival of Fisher’s Ghost in Western Sydney. Held over four days, from 28 October to 8 December, the Festival dates back to 1956 and celebrates Australia’s most famous ghost – Frederick Fisher.
