The distinctive rocky outcrops of the You Yangs, just over 20km from Geelong were a pivotal source of inspiration for Fred Williams. Exclusive to Geelong Gallery, ‘Fred Williams in the You Yangs’ is the largest major in-focus exhibition of a single subject in the artist’s oeuvre. Featuring more than 50 paintings, drawings and prints from the 1960s to the late 1970s, they reveal the way his observation and depiction of these mountain ranges ultimately changed our view of the Australian landscape.
