The FUSE Glass Prize provides a platform for artists to push themselves and their work to new limits and focuses public attention on the importance of glass as a medium for contemporary artistic expression.
The works of twelve established and six emerging artists were selected as finalists for the 2022 iteration, including Matthew Curtis and his winning work titled Margin, 2022. The “totemic sculptural work exudes a deep understanding of the material properties of glass and incorporates a variety of techniques. The piece holds light within while the brightness of colour and levels of translucency change and delight as you move around the form,” says glass artist and judge Cobi Cockburn.
Finalists include Alexandra Hirst (SA), Nicholas Burridge (VIC), Bronte Cormican-Jones (NSW), Matthew Curtis (NSW), Jess Dare (SA), Mel Douglas (ACT), Rose-Mary Faulkner (NSW), Liam Fleming (SA), Hannah Gason (ACT), Tom Moore ( SA), Bronwyn Sargeson (ACT), Jason Sims (SA), Drew Spangenberg (SA), Michelle Stewart (VIC), Kathryn Wightman (NZ), Jianzhen Wu (SA), Alex Valero (SA), Janice Vitkovsky (SA)
