Following a year of extensive travel through Italy emerges a new body of work from artist Gabrielle Jones. She embraces the formal aspects of painting and its materiality, a duality echoed in the exhibition title – art inspired by music, in this case the Stone Roses. ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ is also connected to her recent musing on the parallels between “canonical art of different cultures, the role of veneration, how this contrasted with subjects in contemporary art and culture where the “self” is paramount”, said Jones.
