Mavis Ngallametta: My Country Six New Paintings

This suite of large-scale works was inspired by Mavis Ngallametta’s deep knowledge and connection to country. Representations of intricate river systems, wetlands and coastlines that trace the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland are detailed with wildflowers, birds and animals in her unique perspectives of the landscapes across the Aurukun region. Ngallametta’s distinct approach stretches boundaries and blurs the lines between abstraction, art brut, landscape art and storytelling.
