Assistant Curator Manya Sellers introduces ‘Guan Wei: MCA Collection’, an exploration of three decades of the artist’s practice across a variety of media from painting and animation to prints and the advent of experimentation into site-specific installations and wall paintings. With humour and politics in the Australian and Chinese context he summons stylised human figures and imagined creatures to ask pressing questions about identity, migration, belonging and exile.
