Hadieh Afshani

Brisbane-based artist, Hadieh Afshani’s recent work focuses on experiences reflecting on immigration or transplantation and the subsequent absence and presence of people, places and emotions in someone’s life and exploring the new place with its own mysterious stories for an arrival.

Her work is based on this emotional journey that an immigrant takes. Not just from one place to another, but in reality, a journey of identity, of replacement and the process of becoming familiar with, and finding of one’s self in a new and unknown place. Her work shows how the human psychology that keeps us hopeful in these situations is universal.
