In Opening the loop, Harry Copas investigates new ways of working with materials and sites that blend research with notions of care, repair, and recontextualisation. Installations emerge from the artist’s cross-disciplinary interest in textiles, painting, and sculpture and utilise found materials associated with the building industry. In their reconstruction and repair, these works ask: How can we disrupt the cycles of construction and deconstruction? Their ephemeral nature means they can only exist as a disruption, interfering with the flow of all things we find ourselves part of.
