Julie Goodwin’s paintings deal with spaces; intimate, intense and sometimes slightly weird. “The inside spaces are claustrophobic with steep perspectives that I have brought with me from my childhood and the associated memories living on a dairy farm in West Gippsland”, Goodwin says of this exhibition.
These paintings are layered, intense and deeply felt but at times disconcerting. Meticulously constructed and beautifully painted, Goodwin also sets out to deliberately put the world slightly awry.
