‘Little Gems’ is a selection of small works by indigenous artists from Utopia and the Central and Western Desert areas of Central Australia. The collection of artworks celebrates the colour and diversity of Central Australia. The exhibition presents the diversity of practice, forms and styles of contemporary indigenous painting.
True to its name, ‘Little Gems’, the exhibition presents a series of smaller work – at 60 x 60cm – by a selection of some of the outback’s best regarded painters, alongside work by a new wave of emerging and innovative indigenous artists. The exhibition will travel to Darwin following its display in Alice Springs, where it will be exhibited for a further two weeks.
