Margo Lewers: A House Full of Paintings

Celebrating the art and life of Margo Lewers (1908–1978), this first survey exhibition of her work in over twenty years comprises paintings, collages, mosaics, fabric hangings, and plexiglass sculptures. The exhibition reflects on the late 1960s when Lewers lived alone in her former home, proclaiming in an interview at the time that “it’s a house without people, its only inhabitants are paintings.”

A House Full of Paintings pays homage to both the artist and the power of place, as a site of creative endeavour, experimentation, friendship, and family.
