Curated by Leigh Robb and Nadia Johnson, and now in its sixth year, ‘PICA Salon 2015’ will present the works of nineteen local, national and international artists exploring the concept of ‘Epic Narratives’. The exhibition is a curated response to our over-saturated digital age by artists who seek to carve out ‘experiences’ and connect with others in meaningful ways.
In 2015 an expanded ‘PICA Salon’, with a distinctly Western Australian emphasis, explores recent artistic tendencies towards unconventional and non-linear storytelling, ideas around humanity and empathy, and a renewed interest in experiences that are phenomenological, esoteric, or sensorially charged.
