‘Capture’ showcases key works from the past decade by Australian artist and filmmaker Sam Smith, including a newly commissioned work, exploring relationships or ‘connective changes’ between geology, architecture, cinema histories, paranormal entities and unimagined futures.
Curated by José Da Silva, the exhibition includes projects that combine experimental video and documentary and weave together speculative fictions with historical and scientific data. They sit alongside enigmatic works that reveal the capacity of moving images to manipulate our sense of time and space and absorb viewers into imaginary realms.
