Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe

‘Sculpture by the Sea’ returns to Cottesloe Beach with over 70 sculptures set to transform Perth’s most popular beach into a sculptural wonderland for the 9th annual exhibition. Over 70 artists from across WA, Australia and 12 different countries will create Perth’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition that stretches along the white sands and grassed terraces of Cottesloe beach to the groyne overlooking the Indian Ocean.

This year’s exhibition includes works from some of the world’s most distinguished artists including the UK’s Sir Anthony Caro OM, China’s Chen Wenling and Professor Sui Jianguo, along with the recipient of the main prize at ‘Sculpture by the Sea’, Bondi 2012 – the Balnaves Foundation Sculpture Prize – US artist, Peter Lundberg. Lundberg’s work from last year’s Cottesloe exhibition was acquired by the Town of Cottesloe for its collection and is located at the southern end of Marine Parade. Each year the Town of Cottesloe purchases a work for their permanent collection valued up to $40,000.

Nearly half of the artists in this year’s ‘Sculpture by the Sea’, Cottesloe are from WA including Ron Gomboc, Jennifer Cochrane, Ayad Alqaragholli, Alessandra Rossi and one of the recipients of last year’s prestigious Helen Lempriere Scholarship, Tom de Munk-Kerkmeer.
