Sheer Fantasy

Hitchcock’s Vertigo (1958) exchanges reality for fantasy in the obsessive-compulsive pursuit of the ideal in the form of Madeleine, played by Kim Novak, whose painting features in ‘Sheer Fantasy’. Curated by David Capra, the exhibition presents the work of 13 artists who challenge our imagination through the use of memory and the suspension of time – offering constructed escapism in new worlds and odd characters such as a mock 1970s road movie, an embroidered, appliquéd hell-scene, child-crafted superheroes, and Weimaraners learning to spell.
