Celebrating its second decade, this annual event offers collectors access to museum-quality Australian First Nations paintings and sculptures – now open simultaneously in Melbourne, Sydney, and New York. The collection was assembled over more than fifteen years by a Melbourne couple, architect Carey Lyon and psychologist Jo Crosby. With close to sixty works, proceeds from the sale will support a new philanthropic initiative focused on architecture and design.
Highlights include ten early Papunya paintings from the seminal 1971–2 period, including by Kaapa Mbitjana Tjampitjinpa, Johnny Warangula Tjupurrula, and Uta Uta Tjangala. There’s also a large-scale installation of forty-five Nyapanyapa Yunupiŋu individual drawings and paintings that featured in the 2020 Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory survey exhibition, along with historic works by Rover Thomas, Queenie McKenzie, Albert Namatjira, Emily Kam Kngwarray, and Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi. Sally Gabori and Nonngirrŋa Marawi are also among the artists included.
