South Australian Living Artists: SALA Festival

In its 15th year, the South Australian Living Artist (SALA) Festival will celebrate the diversity, experience and contribution of the 3,453 participating visual artists across 520 unique and creative spaces throughout the entire state. The SALA Festival aspires to be Australia’s most innovative; community based visual arts festival – bringing everyone to South Australian art and artists.

SALA is recognised as the largest and most innovative community based visual arts festival in Australia. Each year, SALA dedicates itself presenting and embracing the state’s most prestigious and internationally acclaimed visual artists along side the many local emerging talents, with a mission of nurturing and developing the creative heart of community groups and individuals.

Of the festival, SALA General Manager, Penny McAuley, says “There is no other event of this nature and scale in our County that engages with and fuses partnerships between visual artists, businesses and community as does the SALA Festival, a truly statewide celebration of visual art culture”

For twenty-four days, South Australia embraces its visual artists and the industry. Galleries and studio spaces lend advice and experience as community halls, cafes and restaurants open up their wall space for exhibitions and events. A packed program of events and lectures means that every corner of the state is offer the chance to experience and share in their cultural community.
