Curator and artist Abdul Karim Hekmat joins in exhibiting with Khadim Ali, Rushdi Anwar, Avan Anwar and Elyas Alwai in ‘The Invisible’; the five all tap into their experiences and refugee backgrounds to reflect on the ongoing crisis of asylum seekers in detention, as well as their position in the community and dehumanisation some media encourages. The show is comprised of photography, textiles, painting and sculpture and aims to communicate the personal and collective impact of displacement, dispossession, migration, trauma and memory.
