Vivienne Binns is an Australian artist whose ground-breaking works, produced over six decades, are instrumental to the evolution of feminist, collaborative, community, and studio-based arts practice. On and through the Surface is a survey exhibition of over 100 works created by the artist since the 1960s and is accompanied by the first monograph to be published about her practice. The gallery explains Binns’ work demonstrates “a feminist and avant-garde ethos, while holding principles of community engagement and egalitarian creative expression at its core.”
