When the Sky Fell: Legacies of the 1967 Referendum

The 1967 referendum was a critical turning point for political change for Indigenous affairs. With the highest ‘yes’ vote ever recorded, the result allowed the removal of two clauses within the Australian Constitution that were discriminatory towards Aboriginal Australians.

Curated by Clotilde Bullen, ‘When the Sky Fell’ weaves together a range of responses and narrative threads about the historical and continuing impact of this significant event. Featuring traditional and contemporary mediums by Indigenous artistic communities across Western Australia.
